Victorian Era Mall
This glass-roofed, two story stretch between 4th & 5th Avenues opened in 1903, and still serves the basic needs of the urban dweller--think fresh flowers, shoe repair, tobacco; a post office, a fruit stand, a nail salon. Add to that the city’s best New York pizza, assorted cafes, and of late, nearly a dozen art galleries. The latter layer the Arcade’s practicality with a new vibrancy and connect it to the adjacent 5th Avenue of the Arts. All are open late the first Saturday each month for the festive Art Crawl.
