What Koreans think Americans want: Ham and cheese with strawberry jam
I have eaten just about everything in this world but at Bennigan's, a western style family restaurant in South Korea, I came across the king of all sandwiches: ham, turkey and cheese on white bread, covered in batter, deep-fried to perfection and topped with icing sugar. Served with your choice of strawberry jam or ketchup... Oddly enough it was nice, but I can’t stop thinking what Soju-inspired adventure lead to this insanity?

Man it felt like a heart attack....is it popular?
not extremely...seem to have seen it on brunch menus...crazy that there's 'Bennigan's' in Seoul, eh? You should check out Dunkin' Donuts in Korea--the 'locally-adapted' flavors can be weird--for example: carrot wheat? banana 'chewisty'? tofu?
I remember being homesick and making the same mistake of walking into a chain restaurant, which I’m not a big fan of. The menu wasn’t created FOR Americans … it was created BY Americans. It’s really no different than most of the artery-clogging foods in the US.
I was not home sick, I ended up with some Military guys who knew my friend...I guess they were, so my friend and I ordered this to share...it was weird but I can see how ti works, I love Korean food ...SoSo good!
