Uncle Ho - The man, the myth and Local Hero
Walk around Saigon and you will inevitably run into Ho Chi Minh Hall, one of Saigon's most iconic buildings. Although it is not open for any tourist it remains an important Saigon landmark.
Saigon is littered with French influence. It was a French colony until they were removed from power during a 1950's rebellion led by Uncle Ho. This resulted in the country being divided into North and South Vietnam. The rest, as they say, is history.
A remarkable balance between old and new can be see at every landmark and by walking down Le Thanh Ton, one of Saigon’s main streets. At night it is impossible to not marvel at the beauty as lights highlight the French influence of the past and the skyscrapers of the future.
