The Jardim Botanico is a great diversion from the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The grounds are a sprawling tropical oasis from the streets and skyscrapers of the city. The garden features portions of in tact Atlantic Rainforest, ponds and fountains, orchids and even a Japanese garden. Additionally, there is actually some wildlife to spot around the park as well, such as monkeys, tamarins and toucans. It's well worth a couple hours of exploration.
