Highlights near Ponta De Ouro

The perfect hideaway: The under-rated Ponta De Ouro beach.

Travel to Mozambique if you seek good company, unnaturally blue waters and white sandy beaches. Once you've stepped into the Indian Ocean, you'll never want to go near a Floridian beach ever again.

Ponta De Ouro is where many South African's flock during the holidays, but this camp ground is no where near over-crowded and gives off no "touristy" vibe.

Ponta is a dive enthusiasts dream come true. Charters will take you out to dive spots where you can spot black tip sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, and even the massive whale shark. You can also learn to wind surf or snorkel. If you're searching an outlet from civilization, this is your hideaway. No tv's, internet, and even at times, cell phone reception, this is the best way to get away from it all.

The nearest town is about an hour's walk on the beach and a 15-20 minute drive on make-shift sandy roads. Go to the bar above the dive center and ask for an R n R (Rum and Raspberry) and watch the waves crash against the shore. Welcome to a little slice of paradise, my friends.
