When you tire of canals and churches, head to the old Jewish ghetto of Venice where you'll find many quiet, pleasant alleys to meander through. Be sure to take the guided tour of the old temples because tour guides can offer more information than what you will find in the memorials and on the plaques in the main plaza. However, beware of orthodox Jews who may try to recruit you. I made the mistake of answering yes to their question, "Are you Jewish?".
