Reminds me about the time I was on Waikiki Beach for the first time. It was like the twilight zone; everyone was just standing still looking in the same direction. I was thinking to myself; what the heck is going on?" I did not realize until about a minute later. I felt so dumb. Good post. Enjoy your travels....

It is obviously a completely different atmosphere, but this is reminiscent of the Sunset Ceremony in Key West at Mallory Square. Everyone gathers before the sunset to eat, drink, and talk. When the sun finally disappears, everyone claps and you hug the people you are with or you shake the hands of the strangers you've just met. I've always found it to be a humbling, moving moment.
