The billionaire's lair of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a peninsula only about a 20-minute drive east of Nice. There's more to do than just gazing wistfully at the gated compounds secreted amid the pines and lazing around on trendy Paloma Plage! The peninsula is well-signposted with gentle coastal walks. In fact there are two of them: a short 35-minute walk to neighboring Beaulieu-sur-Mer and a longer "tour du cap" that winds its way along the coast, past the lighthouse and overlooking sandy coves. Figure on about 2 hours for that one and make sure to bring refreshments as there is nothing along the way. The best time of year is spring or fall as the path is very exposed to the sun. Or, bring a bathing suit and take a dip in the sea to cool off.
