Samcheong-dong, a charming neighborhood lying just north of Anguk station, in the heart of Seoul, features some of the best modern architecture in the city. There are no massive museums or sharp-edged high-rises (head to Gangnam), but high quality, blink-and-you'll-miss-it projects like this steel-framed wall of stones abound. Though the context couldn't be more different, the wall immediately reminded me of Herzog & de Meuron's much larger Dominus Winery in the Napa Valley.

In addition to interesting architecture, the narrow streets of Samcheong-dong house cozy coffeeshops, great restaurants, and many art galleries.
