While visiting an old childhood friend in New Zealand, I stayed with her and her family on their vineyard for a week. One day we hiked in Cable Bay, which is about 20 minutes north of Nelson on the South Island.
After our hike, we rewarded ourselves with a nice meal at the Cable Bay Cafe, which overlooks the Bay and Pepin Island. The food focuses on local seafood and vegetarian dishes. They also serve wine from local wineries such as Neudorf (my favourite NZ winery) and Waimea.
Pictured is the dish that I ordered: The grilled green-shelled mussels with arrabiatta sauce and cheese served with ciabatta bread. I also tried my friend's Kedgeree and it was tasty as well. Cable Bay Cafe is only open in the summer months!! Get there now if you're in Nelson!
I wrote a post about things I did in Nelson here: http://bit.ly/NelsonNZhttp://www.cablebaycafe.co.nz
