Portugal Pousadas

Portugal, particularly the northern area, has an enchanting feel about it with its strong Middle Age legacy that is very much alive through its forts, aqueducts and monasteries. It’s an incredible interesting country to visit and it’s a necessity to cover it via road trip, so that you can stop by in its many little towns that are so rich in history. A highlight from my Portugal trip was the chain of historical monuments turned into B&B (www.pousadas.pt). Can you imagine sleeping in the cell of a XVII century convent? And I am not talking dark and damp; all these are luxury accommodations, at reasonable prices, that turned historical buildings in modern design wonders. But there is still something magic about them. Many of them are classified as World Heritage by UNESO, Imagine! You are sleeping there! I stayed at a convent in Evora, a villa in Ourem/Fatima and a monastery in Guimaraes, and I cant say which one was more gorgeous than the next. Writing about it makes me want to go back!
