Wurstfest is an epic "10 Day Salute to Sausage" held every November in New Braunfels, Texas, about an hour outside of Austin. Run by a local non-profit aimed at promoting local commerce and preserving the community’s German heritage, these wholesome do-gooders spend a week hosting the party. This year was the second time we traveled from LA to achieve our cholesterol intake goals for the year: Grilled pork chop on a stick, fried pickles, fried oreos, wurst (naturally) and more. Men in short-shorts, polka contests, accordions, the chicken dance. Happy people, lubricated with beer and grease, loving life.
