About five years ago, we visited Paestum in June. The Greek ruins are breathtaking and a must for any history buff. Our wonderful stay at the Hotel Savoy Beach was accentuated by the fact that we were often the only ones by the pool! High season wasn't in full swing so we felt like kings and queens on our lounge chairs. The pool-grounds are spectacularly manicured, with bougainvillea and palm trees dotting the walkway. A simple walk across the road leads to the sea, when you get tired of the pool.
