It's a small pilgrimage to reach Kyaiktiyo (pronounced "chai-tea-O") Pagoda and a fascinating, multi-layered experience once you're there. According to the legend, this massive boulder once hovered in the air (and still does) and today is held in this precarious position by a hair relic of the Buddha. The rock is covered in gold leaf, applied by the stream of pilgrims who make the journey year-round. They don't call Burma the “Golden Land" for nothing!
