One Way to Fiasco Country?

If you turn onto the road to Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, be fore-warned that it is eleven miles one way. This is America's most visited National Park so crawling along here in the summer heat may not be in your travel itinerary. So how did we manage to have the place to ourselves last year? Look, not a soul in sight; barely another car on the road; just God's green wilderness stretching forever. It was probably just luck. But if you do get stuck in the loop, pull over here and go for a walk or a picnic. There are plenty of trails, fascinating historical Appalachian homes, and churches to visit. Once a year, these tranquil churches come alive with the homecoming of families who lived here less than a century ago. To them, it's a one way road to paradise.
