The aarti ceremony (the offering of the light) is held on the banks of the Holy Ganges River in Varanasi India as the sun goes down. The chanting and prayers are held along the ghats (steps that go all the way down into the river.) The best place to view the ceremony is from the water where you can make your own offering by floating a burning candle on a small saucer-like "ship" made of paper. This is one not to miss. India is teeming with life and this is one place you can experience all it has to offer.
