Last stop on the trip creates the most memories...
Having spent the sun soaked afternoon spoiling my tongue with pinot-noirs, we stumbled upon the "tree-house" at Vista Hills Vineyard. Having visited most of the more well-known vineyards on the deservedly touted Dundee Hills, we had not known of this little gem. Most of the vineyards look and feel as if they are trying to mimic the beauty of Napa, Bordeaux or Tuscany (which are really beautiful to visit). Vista Hills, however, is quintessential Oregon: woodsy, laid-back, and quirky. They do not have a winemaker at the vineyard, instead presenting a variety of wines (including a tasty little rose) from guest-wine makers. The variety of what they do with their grapes is amazing and quite a spectrum for any palate, wine-tasting guru or someone who likes a glass of vino with friend once in a while. If I were to throw a party anywhere in the state (or possibly become a stubborn squatter), I would choose here :). Cheers!
