After an entire weekend of kite flying during the Uttarayan festival in January, every neighborhood was littered with kite remnants.

The competitions during the festival involve kite strings coated in a sharp glaze of glass shards to help slice through the skies with stunning precision. Cutting down a neighbor's kite resulted in shouts of jubilee - "Lapet!" all night long!
