Kino International Theater
The Kino is a movie theater in Mitte, Berlin that was built in the 1960s and run by the GDR. The theater has a mesmerizing undulating ceiling and some shimmery curtains.

I always had a hard time figuring out why most English speaking people called it "East Germany." It's even stranger now when people call the former GDR the "former East Germany" as if geography somehow shifted not politics.
