While visiting the Chichicastenango Market in Guatemala during Semana Santa two small boys convinced me to sit down and have my shoes shined. My shoes were actually sandles but they spent so much time making sure every crack and crevice was bright and shiny. Of course, the market is quite dusty so after the shoe shine it only took a few minutes to acquire dusty shoes! We stayed at the Mayan Inn which is a little tired but historic and literally right next door to the market.
