After a precarious ride on an ice road in a two-wheel drive compact--my son said I was insane--we came across these fishermen returning to shore at sunset after a day on the ice. They took one look at our Ford Escort and said--an actual quote--"You're not from around here, are you?" Being neighborly Alaskans, they drove behind us for much of the uphill climb out of the basin in which the lake is located.
