Yes, there are a lot of temples in Thailand, and yes, they can sometimes feel a little similar. However, I really liked Houy Mongkol temple just outside Hua Hin. It is home to the largest statue of the very popular Buddhist monk, Luang Pu Thuat, and it makes for some great photos and a temple that is just that little bit different.

When I visited, it coincided with the New Year and gold leaves were being written on and then added to trees, with the setting sun in the background, it was really beautiful.

The temple is about 18km west of Hua Hin, so you will need some transport; either a taxi, car or motorbike.
