Grand Dame of Genoa
She sits overlooking the harbor, and the train station; from her rooftop, the view of Genoa at sunrise or sunset, both, please the viewer immensely. Inside, she gleams with not modernity but a traditional elegance that hasn't lost its shimmer to age.
The Grand Hotel Savoia lives up to its name. It is grand, comfortable, luxurious, spacious without feeling empty and a lovely home-away-from-home for the visitor to the coastal Italian city of Genoa.
Of utmost importance to me anywhere I stay is a bed I can get a good night's sleep in, free and reliable WiFi (rare to find both at once), a balanced breakfast available at a price that doesn't break the bank and courteous service. All are available here, and then some. From smaller touches like towel warmers and robes in the room to hot tubs on the roof deck and both drip coffee and espresso available at breakfast -- the Grand Hotel Savoia seems to have as its aim that no detail be overlooked. This, it seemed to achieve during my stay. There was nothing I desired that I did not already find provided.
If you're flying in to Genoa, you'll need to hire a taxi from the airport. If you take the train into the city, you're within sight of the hotel across an intersection when you emerge from the station. It could hardly be more convenient.
While the hotel is a bit farther from the main action in town, it's a delightful stroll through the old town that will get you where you need to go during a walk you will enjoy!http://www.grandhotelsavoia...
