An abandoned airport sounded like a strange setting for a park, but Tempelhof is much better in person. With long runways perfect for biking, skating or running, nature preserves for rare and endangered birds, and designated areas for barbecues and off-leash dogs, it seems to offer even more than a regular park. The airplanes still hanging out near the terminal building just make it that much cooler.
