Food Tour! Kadikoy Market

A half-day deliciously well spent...Take a food tour of the Kadikoy market on the Asian side. Foodie Banu Ozden was born in Istanbul, college and a little food industry experience in the USA, and back to Istanbul. She takes small groups on a walk through and explanation of the strange and the familiar (as in the colorful macaroons in a bakery window). We ended with lunch at Ciya, sampling typical dishes from the Anatolian region where her family came from. A bonus is the round trip ferry ride across the Bosphorus. Check out Spooninmypocket.com

great colorful shot! It's amazing how macarons have taken off around the world. A decade or so ago it was hard to find them outside of France (or large cities with substantial Francophile clientele)...and now I see they're popular in Turkey--even here in Tucson AZ we have good ones, and last summer I was surprised to see how popular they were in Seoul; seemingly every block had a fancy bakery offering macarons...Bon appetit!
