The word "schedule" is not something to be taken very seriously in most of Central and South America. I was feeling quite lonely as I sat on a bench on a chilly morning waiting for my 7am bus to take me from Santa Rosa de Copan to Tegucigalpa. By 10:30, I was starting to wonder if I had maybe dozed off and missed the bus? By noon, an elderly woman came to sit next to me. She smiled and fed the pigeons from a bowl of grain/corn she had with her. I tried numerous times to ask her about the bus, but never got anywhere. Sensing my exasperation, she handed me a bowl and motioned for me to feed the birds. We spent the next 2 hours, smiling at each other and throwing grain. Finally, the bus arrived at 2:15pm. I have a feeling I would have been quite a bit more agitated had I not spend those 2 hours calmly feeding the pigeons with my companion.
