While searching for a venue for a late lunch in Playa del Carmen, we stumbled upon a seafood restaurant situated in a big palapa (straw hut) near our hotel.

The mixed ceviche was absolutely fresh and delicious, and came with octopus, crab, fish, prawns, tomato, onion and cilantro, avocado and of course lime. It turned out to be the best ceviche dish I had on my trip. We also enjoyed the other dishes of fish tacos, grilled fish and guacamole.

After our trip, we realised that it was actually quite a popular spot after seeing reviews on foodie and travel websites, despite its location off the tourist stretch. Prices are also affordable. So if you're looking for a no-frills seafood place in Playa del Carmen, give La Pesca a shot.
