On rides in New England, there are always country stores, and most of these stores boast some form of local rootbeer. Unfortunately, in many cases, these aren't actually home made but are usually brewed in some central plant then sold to different stores who can put their own label on the bottle. Still, from time to time, you'll find a store that actually has their own recipe.

My tasting notes for the Ripton Country Store was that their root beer was "strong on the vanilla and light on the fizz. Hints of licorice."
