We were lucky enough to have Cinco de Mayo (celebrating the Battle of Puebla) fall while we were in Puebla. Having been told it's not that big of a deal there, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the sounds of bands playing not too far from our hotel room when we stopped in after breakfast. We ventured out to join the festivities, which turned out to be a huge parade. It was a wonderful afternoon spent enjoying the never-ending line of brightly colored floats and connecting with the friendly and welcoming people of Puebla.
