When the sun goes down over Shanghai, the real spectacle begins. Make your way to The Bund, the city's historic waterfront, featuring early 20th century European style architecture. If you gaze across the Huangpu River at an area called Pudong, you will see the exact opposite. Only a couple decades ago, this place had no skyscrapers. Now, it has been transformed into a futurisitic metropolis of immense scale. And at night, it serves as a gigantic billboard for the city's progress. The Oriental Pearl Tower, with its orbs and spire, remains the iconic Shanghai building. Behind it, the bottle opener-shaped Shanghai World Financial Center, boasts an impressive 100th floor observation deck. Scattered amongst these two are countless other edifices of glass & steel.
