For the explorer in all of us

The Big Four Ice Caves are located in the North Cascades, and can be reached via a one and a half hour drive northeast of Seattle. During the summer months, an easy forest hike in (little over a mile, on a well maintained path for all levels of hikers) will lead you to ice caves that form in the remains of melted and compacted snow on Big Four Mountain. The cool breezes coming out of the caves are a welcome refreshment during the warmer weather - but take care to not go into the caves, as they could collapse at any point. The ice caves can be enjoyed as a day trip, or there are a multitude of nearby campgrounds that allow you to extend your stay and easily explore this and many other hikes of all levels throughout the stunning Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
