With only a day to wander around Seattle, I was wondering if the slightly strange Seattle neighborhood of Fremont was worth a visit... until a friend told me about the giant troll statue under a bridge there. Sold!

The Aurora Bridge troll is the result of a 1989 local arts council competition. He's big--big enough to hold a (statue of a) Volkswagen Beetle in his hand. He seems safe enough, but, then again, I visited during daylight hours...
