There were seven of us having a fly-in family dinner at the Park Tavern in North Beach on the edge of Washington Square Park. Greg, who lives within walking distance, said it was one of his favorite restaurants. I now see why. All the food was incredible and different in a very good way. The service was so friendly, amusing, and effective that they must have figured that I would be posting this review.
What to eat?
Start with deviled eggs with bacon, pickled jalapeño & chive. This is very nonstandard and so good. The wagyu beef jerky was amazingly tender and tasty. Yes, the brussels sprout chips are worth their fame.
Everything else changes. Therefore go with an open mind and you will have a happy stomach.
This place opened in 2011, and deserves to be my favorite San Francisco restaurant for 100 years. Bill would have loved it.http://www.parktavernsf.com
