The beaches of St. Maarten can get very hot in the warm months. We were in transit in St. Maarten and noticed these ladies walking around the beach with hats stacked up high on their heads, trying to sell to beach-goers something to shield their faces from the hot afternoon sun. I was tempted to buy one, just to see how the lady would grab the hat from her head and give it to the buyer ... would she take the whole stack off her head or would she lower her whole body and have the buyer take a hat off her head?
