One cannot go to Portugal without indulging in the national dish... Bacalhau or Codfish. One of my personal favorites is the calorie busting traditional dish, Bacalhau com Natas.. literally codfish and cream.
While it is often served at Christmas, Portuguese also indulge year round on this concoction of salted cod, sliced onions, fried potatoes, cream and cheese baked to yummy perfection!
While there are hundreds of ways the Portuguese prepare their codfish, this au gratin dish is one of the most delightful.
