an Unsung Hero, Otto Weidt

Most of us are familiar with the story of Oskar Schindler, German industrialist who was credited with saving over 1,000 Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories, which was the subject of the film “Schindler's List”. Less known is a man name Otto Weidt, during the Third Reich who employed and in turn protected blind and deaf Jews against persecution and from being deported to the concentration camps. Museum Blindenwerkstatt Otto Weidt http://www.visitberlin.de/en/spot/museum-blindenwerkstatt-otto-weidt located few steps away from Hackeschermarkt S-Bahn station is dedicated to telling this story of Otto Weidt's workshop.

Also, be sure to check out the galleries located around Hackeschermarkt. Most of them features local artists, and on Thursday evenings, there are quite a few opening shows.
