An Alternative Journey Through Thailand
Began on the ever-bustling Khao San road and met my new travel mates. Traveled the back khlongs and canals of Bangkok, rode elephants in the jungle, lived with monks for a few days. Hung out and fed the tigers they raised from birth.Went on a safari and swam in the health restoring Erawan Waterfalls (according to the monks). Then we got set up in Singburi, so beautiful. Just a bunch of huts directly over a quiet lake. Lived with a Thai family for a night: learned a bit of Thai cooking and language. Rented scooters and explored the island of Koh Samet then relaxed on the beach and had some cold beer. I assume it may be my only experience living amongst monks and living in their temple but one can never be sure.
