The drive from Mendoza along the international road to Santiago de Chile provides some truly stunning views of the Andean peaks. This region is where some of the highest mountains in the Andes lie, including the tallest peak in South America- Aconcagua. During the summer months, as you leave Mendoza, the mountains are an array of reds, oranges and browns and as the altitude increases they become coated with a sparkling layer of snow.
