A Scaffolded Fairytale
For a year, Neutshwanstein is undergoing repair. Hence the north-face is almost covered in scaffolds. Yet, it doesn't keep the castle from looking like a dream. The best view can be had from Marienbrucke.

i was there in April. the scaffolding was disappointing but the weather was even worse.
Ludwig II built two other castles in southern Bavaria: Linderhof (not far from Oberamergau) and Herrnchiemsee (on an island in the Chiemsee, southeast of Munich. As long as Neuschwanstein is undergoing a facelift, why not explore one or both of the others?
