A short distance north of Barcelona is one of the most magical places we've found. Walking through the streets of Girona makes you feel like you've stepped back in to medieval times. The rough, uneven stone walls tower above you. You can feel as if you are part of the history simply by walking and exploring. Every turn brings something new. And when you're tired of walking at street level, climb one of the many towers and enter Girona's town wall. Originally a defense system meant to keep the town safe, now only parts still exist. Yet as you walk from tower to tower, you gain a completely new perspective of the town, with its mix of old and new. Climbing down into one of the park areas, we came around the corner to this view - almost a garden of eden. You couldn't help but stop and stare in awe at the beauty around you.
